01

Dive log

Divers log each dive with their photos and the depth.

02

Map

Every sighting shows up on a map, grouped by dive site.

03

Species ID

AI suggests which species is in a photo, and other divers can help confirm it. The species database has more than 1,700 species.

04

On any device

It's a progressive web app (PWA), so divers can install it on their phone straight from the browser and use it like a native app. It works in more than one language and has light and dark mode.

05

Live

I built it and I run it. It's live at marinereel.jdplabs.io.

Sightings

Each sighting has the photo, the dive conditions and the spot on a map. Every species in it comes with its classification from the World Register of Marine Species and a summary from Wikipedia.

Ocean news

Ocean News collects marine science, conservation and diving stories. AI writes a short summary of each one, and every card links to the original article.
